Breakfast "Break the Fast"

Hi Friend, I’m so happy that you are visiting our blog! We hear so much from our clients and others say that they skip breakfast. After doing several presentations, I discovered that most people are skipping breakfast, and this inspired me to write this blog in order to help you! Skipping breakfast is detrimental to your health and weight loss goals. This is why I want to share with you a quick and easy breakfast Smoothie that you can make in the morning to break the fast. Yes, the word “Breakfast” actually means breaking the fast from the prior night. Throughout the night our body is resting and recovering, therefore, fasting from food and water. That is why the first thing we need in the morning is to “Break the Fast”. This meal is actually one of most important because it replenish the body with the nutrients it desperately needs. Having a balanced breakfast is VERY important so that all energy needs are met. It also sets your metabolism to burn more calories during the day. So please, don’t skip breakfast! I guarantee that you will have more energy, less cravings and increased mental alertness when you incorporate a balanced meal in the morning. Ideally, it is best to have a complete breakfast that consists of whole foods such as eggs, veggies, good fats like avocados, and fruit. However, since most of us have busy lives, we sometimes do not have time to prepare a balanced meal. That is why I have created a simple and delicious recipe that includes all of the necessary macro-nutrients like protein (protein powder), carbohydrates (veggies and banana) and good fats (fish oil). (You can also substitute the protein powder with a side of eggs). Before you walk out of the door (without breakfast), think again! And consider making this yummy smoothie that will help you to feel energized and satisfied. I absolutely love this breakfast smoothie, it's a great on-the-go, delicious, quick way to start your day right!

Enjoy!

Optimal Energy Smoothie

(Yields 1 cup)

12 oz. coconut water (no sugar added)

1/2 banana

1 cup of kale

1 cup spinach

1 scoop protein powder

1 tsp fish oil

1-3 mint leaves (to taste)

Add ice if desired. Blend and serve!

I personally love using the whey protein powder and fish oil from SFH (www.sfh.com) due to its high quality and no preservatives which is our standard here at Captivated by Nature.
